 On December 13th 2006, the government launched its Code for Sustainable Homes, which is designed to give builders and home buyers alike a guide to building and buying a new home that is environmentally friendly. By using this voluntary code, builders will be able to obtain a star rating for any new home that demonstrates an enviromental performance.
